Overview of Electronic Volume Converter EK220
Electronic Volume Converter EK220 is a battery-operated device designed for precise and efficient gas volume conversion. It captures low-frequency pulses from a gas meter, measures gas pressure and temperature, and calculates compressibility (K) and conversion factor (C) to determine standard volume, standard flow rate, and operating flow rate.
This advanced converter integrates or externally connects pressure and temperature sensors, which are permanently linked to the device. Compressibility (K) can either be set as a constant or calculated using several recognized methods. Electronic Volume Converter EK220 is also available without a pressure sensor for applications requiring only temperature-based conversion, using a fixed pressure value configured during commissioning.
Applications and Functional Capabilities
Electronic Volume Converter EK220 is suitable for a wide range of natural gas metering and station monitoring applications. Common uses include:
- Volume conversion for billing purposes
- Monitoring operating parameters and flow rates
- Flexible data logging for multiple applications
Equipped with four digital outputs and a configurable serial interface, it supports various communication protocols for seamless integration into automated systems. When connected to a modem or RTU, it enables real-time system monitoring and remote data acquisition.
Station Monitoring and Event Logging
In addition to its core volume conversion capabilities, Electronic Volume Converter EK220 offers enhanced station monitoring features. It supports two digital inputs that can be used to monitor signal sensors such as:
- Safety shut-off valves on regulators
- Differential pressure switches on filters
- Door contact switches
These signals are stored in the event archive and can be transmitted as spontaneous alerts via SMS or email when a modem is connected. This makes EK220 an ideal solution for remote monitoring of gas stations, increasing operational safety and responsiveness.
